Business trip in Shanghai!
I love to travel and when I can mix business and pleasure it is always great!
I recently had the opportunity to go to the “Paris of the East”, as they call the beautiful city of Shanghai. It has everything to make you feel dizzy: more than 25 million people live in this megalopolis filled with 4 000 towers and more than 2 500 km of roads. Shanghai has earned the position of the new Babylon of the century.
The never-ending ride from the airport to the city leaves you surrounded by towers and huge areas of buildings under construction. The city doesn’t stop to grow despite it’s already gigantic size… this is impressive.
We then arrived at the Langham hotel, ideally located in the nerve center of international luxury shopping. The heat is overwhelming (38° to 44°C) and you soon find yourself looking for any air-conditioned shelter you can find.
Some places in Shanghai are a must-seen and a must-go. This is the case for “Bar Rouge” where the expats gather at night to have a drink. Great atmosphere and stunning view on the Est Pearl and on the Bund : You can also go to the Ritz Carlton’s rooftop to enjoy the Bund’s amazing night sight.
We also went to the Yu Garden (or Yuyuan Garden) and were astonished by its 2 hectares of magnificence and history: it was created in the XVI century! If you like to walk, I highly recommend you go along the Bund and enjoy the view of the sumptuous buildings of colonial architecture just in front of the Lujiazui’s financial district in Pudong. To finish the day on a perfect note, you can go in one of the 6 “Green Massage Spa” for a meridian massage or a refreshing “Aroma foot therapy and scrub” massage. This is a pure delight after a long walk! Finally, we tried famous star chef Dong Zhenjiang’s cuisine and it remains one of my most beautiful culinary experience in Shanghai.
